Choose a Classic couchette or Comfort sleeper if the point of the night train is to arrive ready for a day in Berlin. Budget is a reserved seat, not a bed. The journey currently takes about 16 hours toward Berlin, so saving money on accommodation can cost most of the following day if you do not sleep.

Recheck both the departure time and Berlin arrival station a few days before travel. Engineering work can move the Berlin stop away from Hauptbahnhof, and the operator’s timetable currently uses Gesundbrunnen.

Is the direct Paris–Berlin sleeper really running?

Yes. The previous Paris–Berlin Nightjet stopped in December 2025. European Sleeper restored the direct route on March 26, 2026, using a different path through Brussels and Hamburg.

This distinction matters because old articles may still describe an ÖBB Nightjet from Paris Est or quote obsolete times. The current operator is European Sleeper, the Paris station is Gare du Nord, and the Berlin terminal shown for the checked service is Gesundbrunnen.

The operator change and March 26 restart were confirmed by European Sleeper in its official route-revival announcement.

The checked Paris-to-Berlin service calls at Aulnoye-Aymeries, Mons, Brussels-Midi, Liège-Guillemins and Hamburg-Harburg before Berlin Gesundbrunnen. The exact stopping pattern can change around engineering work.

Which accommodation should you book?

Classic compartments are mixed unless a Women-Only place is specifically booked. Compartments can be locked from inside. None of these labels guarantees a private shower or toilet, so read the selected product before paying.

How much does the sleeper cost?

There is no fixed route price. European Sleeper uses date- and inventory-based fares. The official Berlin–Paris route page currently advertises shared Classic from €79.99 and private space from €279.99, but these are starting prices, not a guarantee for your date.

Compare the complete product: a cheap seat is not equivalent to a couchette, and a private compartment can be competitive for a group even when its total looks high. Always verify the final fare, occupancy and cancellation conditions in the booking result.

How to book without choosing the wrong product

1. Search Paris Nord to Berlin Gesundbrunnen on European Sleeper.
2. Confirm the date is one of the operating days shown in the live calendar.
3. Choose Budget, Classic or Comfort before comparing the final price.
4. For Classic, decide between shared, Women-Only where available, or private.
5. Check the passenger count and whether every traveler receives a berth.
6. Read exchange and refund conditions before paying.
7. Download the ticket and check the timetable again before departure.

What to expect at Paris Gare du Nord

This is an international conventional night train, not Eurostar. Do not join the Eurostar check-in queue. Check the main departure board for the European Sleeper train number and platform, and arrive early enough to locate the correct carriage.

• Keep the ticket and passport or accepted ID accessible.
• Buy food and water before boarding if you want a full meal.
• Use the coach and berth numbers shown on your ticket.
• Keep valuables in a small bag beside your bed.
• Set a quiet alarm before the Berlin arrival.

Paris to Berlin by night train or daytime train?

The direct sleeper is convenient because it avoids a change, but it is not a high-speed shortcut. Its value comes from using the night and replacing accommodation, not from the shortest elapsed journey.

Interrail and Eurail reservations

European Sleeper allows passholders to book a required reservation by selecting the passholder option in the passenger group. The reservation still costs extra and must match a valid pass. Do not board with only the pass.

European Sleeper currently says bicycle transport is not bookable during 2026. Dogs and cats are accepted only with a private compartment and the applicable cleaning supplement. Verify these conditions during booking because they can change.
